《霧社事件調查研究》全書內文分上、下二篇，除前言外，共有十章，分別討論霧社地區的地理環境與原住民族群、霧社地區原住民族群的歷史遭遇與處境、深堀事件與霧社地區生計大封鎖、霧社地區隘勇線前進與「五年理蕃計畫」的討伐、理蕃機關的擴充與部落遽變、德固達雅群部落集團與勢力消長、霧社事件、霧社事件的起事過程與日方的征伐、視死如歸的抗日志士和霧社事件史蹟與多元面相等。作者透過文獻史料爬梳整理、長年與當地原住民族的接觸以及田野調查，試圖站在當時抗日原住民族的角度進行書寫。期望透過本書的出版，能引發各界對原住民族歷史的關注與討論。
